Jorge Drexler has been nominated in the BEST ORIGINAL SONG category for the track “AL OTRO LADO DEL RIO”, included in the film “THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES”.

The 77th Academy awards ceremony will take place on February 27th. Jorge Drexler will compete with such artist as Counting Crows, nominated for the song “Accidentaly in love” from “Shrek 2” and the songs from the movies “The Chorus”, “Polar Express” and “Phantom of the opera”.
Jorge Drexler’s talent to write great songs is out of the question. Now comes the recognition from the movie industry that counts with Drexler for the soundtracks of their movies.
Walter Salles (director of The Motorcycle Diaries) asked Jorge Drexler to write a song specially for this movie. The result was “Al otro lado del rio”.
This nomination is the prize for a career as a songwriter which began in the mid 90’s, his last album, “Eco”, which was a success in such territories as Spain, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina and others, will be re-released including the nominated song “Al otro lado del rio”, together with other new tracks and a DVD with a documentary of the recording sessions, videoclips and a live show at Montevideo’s Teatro Solis.
