Binomio
De Oro!  El
Binomio De Oro is one of the most popular Vallenato groups from Colombia. The
group was formed in the late '70s by musicians Rafael Orozco and Israel Romero.
Soon the group was known for innovating vallenato, a popular traditional Colombian
music style. In October of 1981, the band performed for
the first time at New York's Madison Square Garden, also remembered as the first
time vallenato was played at that major venue. El Binomio de Oro's continuity
was uncertain after Rafael Orozco passed away on June 6, 1992. Nevertheless, its
remaining members decided to go on. In 1996, the group achieved double-platinum
status.
