Celines, a native vocalist of Penuelas, Puerto Rico, began performing at an early
age. When she was 10, she started with Guiros of Puerto Rico Orchestra, recording
two singles. At 15 she initiated her other passion dramatic art, studding in the
Ofelia D' Acostas' Academy, graduating among the first best ones. This experience
took her to perform in "La Casa de Bernarda Alba," "La Casa de Los Siete Balcones"
and "Mujeres."
In
1998 Celines enroll in the Puerto Rico University to undergo a degree in drama.
At the same time joins the merengue orchestra "Las Nenas de Ringo y Jossie," with
whom records the first musical hit "El hombre bueno." After one year leaves the
group to organize her own orchestra which became later, Mayra and Celines.
Within
this group she became notice by the Puertorican people as one of the best merengue's
performance. She recorded hits such as "Mentiras," "Senor," "Tanto Amor," "Fuego
Lento," "18-75" and "Un Hombre."
In
1996 Celines accomplished one of her biggest goals, be able to record her first
album as single vocalist, which recorded with the nonexisting RMM Label. In "Libre"
Celines obtained various radio successes as "Si vuelves tu," theme that was recorded
by "La Lupe," and "Amigos," which was recorded in a duet with Manny Manuel. For
the second production in 1997, the Puertorican press acknowledge her as "La Flor
del Merengue" name that was also given to her second production. The same year
was chosen by the readers of TV Guide as the "most beautiful face of the Puertorican
television."
In
1998, Celines accomplished one of her most desire dreams, the production of boleros
(Spanish dance and musical rhythm) "Al Compas de un bolero," it represents the
artist "emotions lived and to be lived" creating a sentimental love "of what we
were and where we are from." This majestic production was directed by the arranger
(arreglista) of romantic music, Mandy Vizoso. Most of the songs that were included
in this musical belong to Puertorican composers among others, Sylvia Rexach, Rafael
Hernandez, Bobby Capo and Placido Acevedo. Her first promotional cut was a medley
of songs: "Amor por ti," "Que falta tu me haces" y "Lagrimas Negras." The same
year she returned to the theater with the work "Hace Rato Llego el Apocalipsis
al Barrio."
In
1999, Celines recorded merengue, having in mind the dancing public. That is why
in "Alma Morena," among others stands out an innovating rhythm of flamenco bomba.
Now in 2002,
Celines returns with her new production, Histeriha. In this new album, Celines
demonstrate the maturity of her vocal talent. With this in mind she accentuates
the quality of interpretation by means of vocal education directed by the professor
Jose L. Otero from Imperial College in the Condado area.
Emotional
feelings will be presented in the twelve themes contained in this new musical
proposal, under the trademark of Black Dot Records. Her first promotional cut
is Inevitable, with a music rhythm in merengue and a ballad that provoke deep
sensations. It transcends the incurring of Celines as a composer and singer of
the theme Hagamoslo, likewise explores a variety of themes, prevailing in this
fine work of merengue, that made her recognized. The compact album is completed
with the themes "Histeria", "Solo llueve para mi", "Una oveja mansa", "Dame de
ti (Dance Version)", "Pacto de Amor", "Solo llueve para mi (ballad version)",
"Todo fue por..." and as a bonus track, "No me dejes".
Celines
confront a total transformation, physical, emotional and professional, which transmits
in each of her interpretations, ingredients of her musical work which is directed
and produced by Samuel Ortiz and Samuel Beniquez among others known processionals
of the music.
Celines
have concentrated all of her soul in being able to print the best of her interpretations
in each cut that makes an echo in her soul. Augured to be the best of her five
productions as single vocalist.
